When renting unfurnished property, is it best to do the british thing and take out full contents insurance? My natural instinct is yes, but one estate agent manageress asked "Why? there is so very little risk of fire or theft etc., here". I wondered what everyone else with furniture, would advise.

Has anyone actually tested the system, for say, accidental damage etc.?

Yes, risk is low, but as a result so are the premiums

pleasure - there is no such thing as not having insurance - you either buy it, or you are self insured
