  • Five pub quiz questions – Quick Quiz
As a change from our usual helping of country-related trivia, here's a tasty selection of five "pub quiz" type general knowledge questions. Have a go!

Money matters

£:€ tops 1.20 for the first time since January

No, really... it does!
But does it matter more in Malta than at home?

NO ADVERTISING - financial services adverts belong in our classifieds section. Get-rich-quick schemes belong in the trash.

Pity we don't get that rate though lol.

Best I got yesterday when I exchanged some GBP was 1.19 and that was better than I got in April!!

Mark, if you know how to get better rates please show us here so we can all benefit from your great wisdom.

Great idea, Roger. :D

Why not ask in the Premium Lounge or on the Recommended Suppliers?

We (Dave and I) are also in the position of making frequent money transfers and have used several different services. We could share our experiences too.

I've done a new summary of the options, which should allow you to have got more like 1.22-1.24 yesterday, not 1.19 :-)

Thanks for these replies Kay and Mark.

I guess a lot depends also on where you are at the time and if, like us, you are still in the process of setting bank accounts up.

Yesterday for example, the online rate at ASDA was 1.20 but when I went into the local store for my 0% commission euros, I got 1.19 for my on the spot purchase over the counter.

changing cash is normally the worst way in terms of rate, but even then, you would do better in Malta generally

The prepaid debit card company I use for cash withdrawals are 1.2419 at the moment which is the best rate I have had since I first started using them 16 months ago.

1.305 (was 1.31), on the back of Swiss refloating their currency against the euro, abandoning the 1.20 cap
