Barclays closing some expat accounts with less than £100K

There is a report in today's Daily Telegraph that Barclays intend to close accounts held by expats in Malta, Greece and Cyprus if the balance is less than £100,000. It seems they will be writing to the customers they have identified within the next couple of months.

thats onshore accounts I presume (actually not sure if they have offshore operations any more) - at least now compared to 10 years ago there are "proper" current accounts available offshore now, with cheque books and credit cards
