For such a small nation, Iceland has a lot of superlatives. How much do you know about this intriguing country on the north-western edge of Europe?

State schools/education

Secondary Schools which study for GCSE and Matsec Exams

Here's the place to discuss schools in the state system. Private schools are commercially operated businesses just like any other, so they're included with all the other premium content. Any posts here about non-state schools will be removed.

they can't PM you as you are not a paid-up member. If you wish to place an advert, its £5, with 50% going to Gozo SPCA. Alternatively for £25 pa you get full access to our private boards, and can place adverts for free on those boards, plus have PM.

If you wish to advertise your wife's services, please pay for an advert.

OK, still just trying to see if there is interest before (potentially) throwing money away. Also, the site isn't accepting ads. Thanks...

Jack

Either you risk "throwing your money away" or you don't. Mark has already outlined your choices. You can become a Premium Member, the benefits of which include being allowed to post adverts (at no extra charge) in our Premium Marketplace.

Or you can take out a small ad for the huge sum of £5 - 50% of which goes to Gozo SPCA.

It's not acceptable to make a test advert for your wife's services to see if it's worth placing an advert.

Do or do not. There is no try.

Can you give me any data on traffic to your ads from Malta? This way I can decide whether it is in fact worth it as if no one sees it £5 is a waste of money, £1 would be a waste of money! I have tried classifieds on other forums which are free and they have no traffic whatsoever. Also, the site is not accepting ads. Also, I don't think resorting to sarcasm is entirely necessary.

You can advertise in the Forum Advertising section, which works absolutely fine - I know because I've just tested it.

No. I can't be bothered. It's too much bother for £5, of which I'd get £2.50 (the other £2.50 would go to Gozo SPCA). Please stop wasting our time. Either buy an advert or don't advertise. Thank you.

Anyway, you can see the traffic to the public adverts for yourself. The forum displays the number of times any page was viewed. Why do you need someone else to read that out for you?

Great thanks, so there are 17,536 users in Malta? Slightly worrying that there haven't been any ads posted since a year ago though?

I had originally gone to the advertise tab at the top of the page (why would I go anywhere else!?) and it told me "Therefore we are not currently accepting most new advertising".

.

most ads on the forum are in the subscription-only section, where ads are placed for free

If you visit the Adverts and Small Ads boards, you'll see that there have been adverts posted within the last two months on each of them. You'll also see how many views each of the adverts has had.

The figure of 17,536 is the total membership across the BE fora, not just the members who've joined because they have an interest in Malta.

Fair point about the Advertise link at the top of the page, and sorry for the confusion. I'll be removing that link shortly, as it has little relevance to the fora.

Kay, is this really a way of speaking to someone? I had not been directed to this part of the website when I asked, as the Advertise section was saying it wasn't working. Now I have seen it. I don't think you realise you are offering a paid for service.

Thank you Dave and Gozomark for your help, and sorry for not quite getting what you're doing here. Good on the Advertise tab thing, definitely threw me the wrong way! I was looking in business ads not small ads as I thought I would get in trouble for putting it in small ads. I can see in Small Ads there are regular ones, just in Business ads there isn't anything.
