Kartanzjan

Kartanzjan

Postby Red » Thu 9 Sep 2010 09:38 GMT

I know the word Kartanzjan is mentioned in the list on the sticky, but I don't think it is immediately clear what it actually means to a newcomer

Once a person over 60 has obtained his/her ID card, they can apply for the Kartanzjan card, which entitles them to free passage on the Gozo chanel ferry, and an even more reduced rate for a car. In Malta it also allows half price on the buses (this is not allowed in Gozo) Appologies if everyone knows this, we didn't.

Kartanzjan

Postby KeithBarry » Mon 13 Sep 2010 15:42 GMT

How can the rate be even more reduced than free!?
I am interested in living on Malta or Gozo in the fairly near future and would like to make contacts as a prelude to this.

Sorry Kieth,

Taken from the Gozo chanel site:

Karta Anzjan Scheme

As from 1st November 2007 all Karta Anzjan holders will travel for FREE on Gozo Channel when presenting the Karta Anzjan and ID Card at the ticket booth.

Price for standard vehicles for Karta Anzjan Holders is €11.05.
The tariff for a vehicle for Gozitan residents is €6.95.
*ID Card and Karta Anzjan must be presented for verification.

I hope their explanation is clearer, for you to understand.

If, like me, you are very, very old - over 60 - take your ID to the local council office. They will issue the Karta Anzjan within a few days. You do not need to supply a photo' as they use the one from your ID records. c.

Did you find you local council office ? I could not find the one for St. Pauls Bay. Onb another thread some years ago it was said that the Kartzjan was issued automatically after the ID. Is this still the case ? to save me walking up and down the road agin.l

cheers..Ed

The card issue should be automatic - but some times they need prompting.

does anyone know, if you live in Gozo & have a Kartanzjan, do you get half price bus travel in Gozo as well as the big island.
