Filing tax return

Postby rasputinluv » Wed 14 May 2014 16:22 GMT

Is it possible now to file a tax return for the year ended 2013?
I have not received any request from IR to do so. I am registered with them.

Yes, it is the end of June. Do you file online? I checked my online account. It had 'Tax return not required', written under a heading of 2013.
2013 refers to, which fiscal year?

I am still waiting to receive my paper tax return hoping it comes soon as I need the figures on it for my child allowance renewal which is due!

I called inland revenue hotline. They informed me that they will be sending a return to everyone by end of May, so that people can file their return on time by the end of June. I heard Malta tax return is relatively brief, so hopefully one month is sufficient time.

Well I suppose I ought to register with the tax people!
How do I do this and should my wife also register?

No need to both do it unless doing separate returns.

Registering for tax and 2013 returns.

Postby PeaCakes » Sat 24 May 2014 06:23 GMT

I went to the tax office in St. Francis Square. No queue, and
registered myself and wife in just a few minutes.
They are very helpful. Tax returns for 2013 basis year should
be sent out by mid June. If not received by then go and
collect one I was told. They will print one off for you.
They seem to be running a bit late if they are supposed to be
submitted by the end of June?

I took Tax Registration forms into the office in Victoria a year ago. I was told the forms go off to Malta in the internal mail and they would be sent the next day.
Needless to say I have not heard anything since!

Ah! Maybe my positive post is a tad premature!

This. The last few years I've received it and had approx 2 weeks to complete and return. I've done all of mine online.
