“I took this photo when I was working up in Peshawar with Afghan refugees. The North West Frontier Province is a pretty lawless place – as those who’ve read Kipling (or seen Carry On Up The Khyber) will have heard – and much in the news in recent years with the attempts to track down Al Qaeda.
“There is a frontier post between Pakistan and Afghanistan, with a border fence, but if you go up into the mountains for a couple of hundred yards you can just go round the fence. Not that I ever did, of course!”
Kay has been an expat for over 20 years. She set up the British Expat website more than 10 years ago, whilst living in London and missing the expat life. These days she spends much of her time lugging computers and cameras around the world. (Dave gets to deal with all the really heavy stuff.)
