as soon as you get a BBQ going, there's a crowd of men around "helping out" with the cooking etc

Wouldn't be so bad if 99% of them weren't so b***** incompetent. You'd think that after about 20 years of having a braai at weekends for 9 months of the year that people round here would:

- know how long it takes from the first match to the point at which the fire is suitable for cooking on.

- in a climate where humidity is less than 30% most of the time, be able to light dry wood and charcoal without needing 4 firelighters (which make the fire unusable for half an hour, unless you like your chops tasting as if they'd been marinated in kerosene.)
