UK to phase out cheques by 2018?

Postby Dave » Wed 3 Mar 2010 17:46 GMT

It looks as if "your cheque is in the post" will soon be "your cheque is in the past"...

BBC News: Cheques to be phased out in 2018

Makes very little or no difference to us from a personal banking point of view - but we do still use cheques for our business account. S'pose I'd better go back into battle with the bank's "easy three-stage process" to try and get our online banking set up.

Just check first to ensure there are no mergers/takeovers in the offing. The Halifax/BoS one left me unable to log in for over a year.

I haven't used cheques in years. Then again, I haven't used banks in years... Everything is paid for with cash or, if it has to be sent by post, I'll get a money order. If I buy things online I use our works Paypal account or business Visa and reimburse my boss with cash (even if he does charge me sales tax for it...)
