Hi Cameron; strange priority for first posting but the answer to your question is €38.75 per carton for cash locally.

Hi Cameron

Welcome to BE. Did you not realise that we have a dedicated Malta forum?

It's best to ask questions about Malta on there.
http://britishexpat.com/expatforum/index.php

Chinwags is for general chat rather than country-specific queries.

Thanks

Poor guy, he doesn't know what he's missing out on.

Spending time with Mr Green gets a top rating from me. Probably best not to tell everyone about it, though.

Chris, if you will says you want to be cremated, I hope it will also warn people about the pacemaker... Even if the battery is depleted, it could still explode.

Ah, the first line of an Iain Banks story. Mr Green is smart enough to avoid that kind of drama.

Do you like Iain Banks? I do!

Well, at least I'd go out with a bang! Iain Banks, who he? Wasn't he a famous footballer? I'll Gooogle him. c.

:D I was referring to the opening paragraph of The Crow Road.

"It was the day my grandmother exploded. I sat in the crematorium, listening to my Uncle Hamish quietly snoring in harmony to Bach's Mass in B Minor, and I reflected that it always seemed to be death that drew me back to Gallanach."

The novel is terrific and then they made a TV series out of it which is also excellent (available on DVD). Iain Banks very much approved of the TV series and described it as being "annoyingly better than the book in some places".

It's really brilliant. Once you start watching you can't stop. I know more than a few people who think they'll just watch one episode for now... and then stay up all night watching the whole thing because they simply can't stop until they know what happens. Highly recommended!

You'll enjoy it, Chris. DVD is worth buying, too. They really do have to remove pacemakers before cremation....

Iain Banks also writes excellent, fast-paced sci-fi, and was commissioned to write a book in which he visited a lot of distilleries - I recommend this book, too.

Kay, have you read The Bridge (I think that was its title)?

Thank you Ruggie; it's the DVD that I've ordered.

When you're implanted with the pacemaker they give you a rundown on do's and don'ts like avoiding strong metal detectors and arc-welding equipment. Although the cremation problem is mentioned I think it unlikely that I will be able to advise the undertaker personally. However, I'm sure they are quite used to checking for themselves.

Airport scanners are probably quite safe now but it's fun to create a little drama by being taken out of the queue and given a physical bodycheck. The scanners employed at shop exits used also to give a blip in the heartbeat - especially the ones in Boots. :compucoffee:
