Luanda for 20-somethings

Luanda for 20-somethings

Postby saado » Tue 25 Nov 2008 21:15 GMT

I am considering a job opportunity in Angola and I am wondering about life in Luanda for young people. How is the nightlife and social scene in the city?

I will be looking for a reasonably priced accommodation, ideally with other Angolan young people or expats as roommates. Is that difficult to find? How much can I expect to pay? I am fluent in Portuguese.

I would love to hear any thoughts about life in Luanda.

Nighlife and social scene can be very active as long as you have access to a reliable driver as there is not a safe taxi service here.

There are many nightclubs and bars open late, ranging from the low class to high class hangouts.
Obviously you will pay though!
There are also a number of nice restaraunts, albeit expensive.

Accommodation is tough to find, I don't know of any agency that places people together in housing as most ex pats have housing provided by their company.
