Kay's Photo of the week for 26 August

Looks like we have a few photographers and artists in our midst so here's a place to talk about all photography, art, and related subjects.

Kay's Photo of the week for 26 August

Postby Savannah_Alan » Mon 12 Sep 2005 06:04 GMT

I had a look back at the POTW on the main site this evening. I must have missed the one for 26 August (Mortehoe, Devon).
Just wanted to congratulate Kay on such a nice shot. I love the way it engages the eye and draws it all the way to the top of the distant hill.
Lovely composition and perfect exposure! I'd like to see a larger version.

p.s. Clicking on the thumbnail (previous photos of the week) for Mojan's great shot of the camels on the beach, links to Mike Clark's shot of Flora :? . Another good shot, but not where it's expected.

Alan.

Wow! Thanks for the compliment, Alan. It was a straightforward shot - no cropping or PhotoShopping - that was the shot as I took it.

I had been particularly interested in the wall in the foreground because of its sharp textures, but I also wanted a composition which would show the scenery behind it. The village looks a wee bit like it's floating, but that's fine too. And there's the little road winding away in the middle, which I thought added some interest.

As I say, that was the shot exactly as I took it. I'm absolutely delighted that you liked it. Thanks!

I was away when all the discussion went on about the photo of the week.

I guess I might be being stupid, but I can't for the life of me figure out where the entries for photo of the week are posted. I was looking for the photos that Alan mentioned - but I don't even know where to look.

Can someone point me to the place?

The past POTW are on the main site here.

I believe the entries are now just posted on the photog's board and nominated from there for POTW.
