Help need advice - am worried to death!

Postby Kel_Hamilton » Wed 10 Dec 2008 21:38

Hi myself and husband went for our medicals 3 weeks ago and my husbands liver function (ggt and billirubin) were raised and had to be retested :( . Results came back today and his billirubin is 34 (should be 22 or less) and his ggt is 88 should be between 0-80. Really concerned that this will stop us from getting to NZ. Has anyone else had similar problems or can anyone give me any inclination of whether or not this will cause any problems? The doc has said he is in very good health and neither are of any concern, but a scan could rule out any serious liver problems. Thanks Kelly x

Hi Kelly,
I'm afraid that I can't help (we've not yet got to that stage of our application process), but the best advice I can offer is to talk to your CO and see what they advise.
I hope that it isn't too serious!

As far as I can say and I have lived in NZ for some 6 years now.

I had asthma and was accepted into NZ on a work to residency visa.

I feel provided there is sufficent evidence from a medical report to suggest your husband would not be a burden in terms of medical assistance (medications, time in hospital etc) you will be ok. NZ immigration will inform you if they require any extra medical reports and maketeir dexision based on said reports.

My husband has had an ultasound all clear!!! Now immigration want a report from a liver specialist stating abmormalities and treatment but as there are not any abnormalities there will be no treatment - guess we should be on our way pretty soon! Fingers crossed!
