Moving to France with HIV

Hi,
My partner and I are planning on relocating to a france. As my partner has HIV will this pose any difficulty, can he access treatment in France, will he have to pay for medicines or would he be entitled to any benefits. Has been diagnosed for 19 years now.

Hi, Trevor. I'm not an expert, but I believe the French state scheme currently reimburses 100% of the cost of medication for chronic illnesses. It does not discriminate against pre-existing illnesses when you join. In practice, after you have filled in all the forms and obtained your French 'Carte Vitale', France will actually bill your costs back to the UK.
