Thieves steal Channel swimmer's wheelchair

Here's a story in The Guardian about how thieves stole Philippe Croizon's wheelchair.

Thieves have stolen a hi-tech wheelchair belonging to French sportsman Philippe Croizon, the quadruple amputee who swam the Channel.

Hope he gets the wheelchair back - life must be hard enough without that kind of thing happening.

Did the minister's reaction (an "unacceptable theft") strike anyone else as a bit odd? Or has something been lost in translation?

He's got it back. It was stolen during the night of Thursday/Friday and found in a small parking lot the next day by the driver of a handicapped people's bus. He stored it in a secure area until he saw a French TV news item about the theft of the trailer, and returned it the following Monday.
