Volunteering

Postby Bigowen » Wed 12 Feb 2014 16:46

Hi all....as you guess I'm brand new to this site.

I am thinking of retiring to Gozo in a few months with my wife ( & probably our son is coming too)

As I like to keep myself a little bit busy, I was wondering what type of volunteering there is on Gozo.
For the last few years I have been working with adults with learning disabilities, so that is one possibility.
The other volunteering I would be interested in is working with animals, & I understand the SPCA are a good place to start.

Another thing I was looking into is renting a property, I am considering a few areas on Gozo any places I should avoid ?

Tx in advance

welcome to the forum :-)

lots of opportunities for volunteering, and we are always happy to see new faces at Gozo SPCA. This is the website for the NGOs in Gozo - ARKA could be of interest

[edit - website looks a bit empty - maybe a problem with the site at the moment, usually lists all the NGOs]

http://vps.ospreymail.com/www/arkafound ... g/home.asp
"The Arka Foundation is a voluntary, non-profit making and non-governmental organization that promotes the welfare of people with special needs and of their families, irrespective of their creed or nationality"

property - its not so much places to avoid (with the exception of Marsalforn in my mind), as all towns have good and bad properties. Gozo is small enough I wouldn't worry too much about which town.
