Making the Move to Panama

I have been mulling over for some time about semi retiring to Panama but am unsure about this as I don't know anyone there and would make the journey by myself. At the moment I am teaching English full time in a secondary school, and doing the odd gig in music.
I cant stand the life style here and therefore want to make a radical change and Panama seems to have a lot going for it. At the moment it's a choice between Greece and Panama. Is there anyone who can lend a voice of experience (SGI member maybe)?

Hi I'm also looking at going to work in Panama; my girlfriend is getting a job out there and I'm going to be following on.

I'm an ex Army officer with an open mind about what I would do while I'm there! I hope someone has some insight!
