Öland’s Harvest Festival
As the summer draws to an end, it’s harvest time on Öland, the second largest Swedish island. The season culminates with Öland’s Harvest Festival on 30 September – 2 October 2011, Sweden’s largest harvest festival (skördefest).
The emblem of the festival is the pumpkin. Pumpkins share the limelight with the harvest of Öland’s onions, carrots, potatoes, brown beans and lots more besides. The festival also involves culture, art and various events. The entire island celebrates from Friday morning to Sunday night.
