Pensions: information and addresses

It seems that there is considerable controversy about British state pensions for expats. To ensure you get a fair deal, you can join a group to lobby for “parity, not charity”. You could start with the britishpensions.com site, which is the home of the Canadian Alliance of British Pensioners. Alternatively, the British Australian Pensioner Association (BAPA) has an excellent website and offers an opportunity to sign up to the Yahoo egroup, British Expat Pensioners (BEP), where members discuss issues relating to pensions. Even if you’re not in Australia, this site is well worth a look as it contains useful links to related sites and other pensioner associations worldwide. Make your voice heard!

  1. Carol A. Gordon

My wife, Carol Gordon, did not get her usual mid-month Tyneview Park pension deposit. She is troubled with dementia & is of little help trying to find a file (if one exists).

The deposit amount varies between $155 and $170 CND per month and goes directly to her Bank of Nova Scotia account [edit: info removed]

I am hoping this message gets to the right people in order to correct this.

    Thank you

  2. Dave

Sorry to hear about your wife’s missing pension payment, Mr Gordon. Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do on your wife’s behalf, and it’s unlikely that the DWP will be monitoring this page for comments. You’ll need to contact the Department for Work & Pensions yourself at their International Pensions Centre:
Department for Work & Pensions: State Pension if you retire abroad

You might also be able to get some help from the Canadian Alliance of British Pensioners – contact details are available from their website at the link given in the article above.

We’ve removed your wife’s bank account number as it’s risky to publish personal financial details on the Web.

I hope this helps. Good luck!
