On The Road – Writing Contest

I just found this and wanted to share it with you. are running a fantastic competition where you can win free hotel nights and also sponsored trips as a freelance writer. The competition is sponsored by Fairmont, which has many luxury hotels and resorts around the world.

The amazing thing is you don’t even need to write a great screed of stuff to enter. They’re only wanting pieces of around 65-120 words. In fact, they say that entries of over 160 words may be disqualified. The competition is open to anyone anywhere, with a few restrictions (you have to have been at least 18 years old as of 1 July 2010) and exceptions (no nationals or residents of Cuba, North Korea etc – basically the US “Axis of Evil” countries).

See the bottom of the competition page for important dates. The entry period is July and August, so you’ve plenty of time to craft your entry (and they’re only allowing one entry per person), but do it soon so you don’t forget.

I’m definitely going to have a shot at this one, and hope you do too. Entry is free. Visit their website for more details and to enter online.
