The view of Venice’s Piazza di San Marco and its campanile is so famous that there’s no need for us to repeat it here. Instead, here’s a southward view from the campanile, looking out across the mouth of the Grand Canal and the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute on a summer morning.
Enjoy it while it lasts. The city is slowly sinking, although extensive engineering works have slowed the rate to 1-2mm a year.
