The Elizabeth Tower (formerly simply the Clock Tower) of the Palace of Westminster – commonly known as “Big Ben”, although that nickname originally applied to the bell (which is officially known as the Great Bell of the Great Clock of Westminster).
This photo struck us as being particularly timely – partly because of the renaming of the Tower (officially announced last month) to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, but also because the clocks went back last weekend and the cold, wet and miserable weather has now well and truly set in, along with the darker evenings. (Don’t you just love the British winter?) We thought this moody, windswept image captured the time of year perfectly.
