ANZAC Day, a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand as well as in the Cook Islands, Niue, Samoa and Tonga, is commemorated on 25 April—the anniversary of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps’ (ANZAC) first major military action in the First World War, in the Gallipoli campaign of 1915–16. Since then it’s broadened to become a day of respect for all those who died and served in the military campaigns of those countries.
Traditionally the Dawn Service is the major commemorative event and is held in locations all over the world.
