This month
We’ve had lots of content from Thailand recently. Following on from February’s “Take Five” interview with Bangkok-based writer Ken Barrett, this month we’ve had two “Letters from Thailand”.
First of all, Jake Needham wrote in with “A little sentimentality about Thailand“. He’s away from Bangkok for a while now, so took the opportunity to revisit his feelings about the city in which so many of his enthralling novels are based. There’s also some exciting news about his forthcoming book The Girl in the Window.
Then Ian Douglas wrote from his village up country about the, er, cyclical nature of the sewerage system in his street. Apparently life there is a little closer to nature than some of us might wish for. But it seems to work…
We thought we’d continue the theme by making this month’s Quick Quiz about Thailand too.
Meanwhile, in Europe, our pal Mike Kingdom-Hockings has written in with a little bit of background about how he wound up in the Limousin in south-western France—and how a huge garden caused him to take up writing…
Our latest Pic of the Week also comes from Europe and, fittingly, it’s from Lake Constance, where Germany, Austria and Switzerland meet—though exactly where they meet is a moot point as none of them can agree where the boundaries should run.
Ah yes, Europe. How could we possibly mention Europe and not the big Brexit debate? Our pals at expatpost have taken a sideways look at some of the claims around expats’ right to remain in the EU if the UK votes to leave. Have a look, and join in the debate for yourself!
For those of you who do continue to maintain a base overseas or have other reason to transfer money internationally, we’ve some good news from our currency partners OFX, the parent company behind UKForex, OzForex and others. They’ve reduced the minimum amount you can transfer, so it’s now possible to send as little as £100 or the equivalent in 18 other currencies.
As usual, the BE forum provides information on a wide range of expat issues, as well as the opportunity to socialise with like-minded people all around the world. Join in the fun here!
