This month

Everyone knows February’s the shortest month of the year. From a Northern Hemisphere point of view, that’s probably just as well as it’s a pretty miserable month. This year, as last, we fled the cold and wet of Britain for – we hoped – warmer climes, and some fun and games with our cartoonist pals in Malta.

We had a great time, and it was good to catch up with such a talented and friendly bunch of people again. However, it was a lot colder than last year. This wasn’t helped by the fact that the hotel hadn’t had the heating on for the previous month as it was closed for renovations. (We’ll take a few more warm clothes next year.) But at least it was sunny. And it did give us a chance to revisit our hotel review from last year.

We’ve stayed in South America with our latest Pic of the Week – sort of. Easter Island is actually over 2,000 miles away from the mainland and geologically not part of South America at all. But it is Chilean territory. It’s famous for its moai, the head-and-torso statues of family ancestors, who are the subject of our latest photo.

And our latest Quick Quiz is a mix of five questions on various general knowledge themes. Why not have a shot?
